Centre of Gravity Indicator (CGI)

This Centre of Gravity Indicator (CGI) was manufactured in November 1969 by Intertechnique in France. It is a prototype unit fitted to aircraft such as F-WSST (French prototype 001) and G-BSST (British prototype 002). It was located in the cockpit on the pilot main instrument panel and flight engineers panel, as well as the forward cabin observer’s station. A vital indicator for the flight crew to enable the safe transfer of fuel between the 13 tanks. On the production variants, a larger more visible indicator was installed with a warning light emphasising the importance of this piece.

The fourth image shows the location of this indicator on the pilots main instrument panel in the cockpit.

The final image shows how this indicator was presented on the observers station. A delta wing formation of fuel tank contents indicator and the CGI can be seen
