For nearly two decades, British Airways offered Christmas charter flights to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. These festive flights to the remote Artic-circle region were organized by tour operators such as Goodwood Travel. A one day experience was priced at £799 in 1984. These flights required a significant amount of logistical planning from British Airways including special landing permit applications and additional ground maintenance equipment. Nonetheless, this unique Concorde experience proved consistently in high demand until 1999, and boosted the winter tourism industry in Lapland. A historical testament to a time when supersonic aviation made even the far North reachable in hours.
