Dated 10th October 1967 this 57 year old flight deck dial is in excellent condition. It comes complete with 3 (also excellent condition) original equipment labels. The first two showing it as not cleared for the flight in March 1967 and Octonber 1967 and the final one showing it ‘CLEARED FOR FLIGHT’ in March 1968 along with a handwritten note saying “Reference Normalair Letter to Sud A/WS/AR/A49414“.
I doubt we’ll ever know the full story, but the documentation dating from the first year of the test programme is testimony to the detailed scrutiny that every single component was subjected to.
